  • Sensor for calculating impact force.

    Hello,
I wanted to know which can prove to be most effective sensor to calculate the impact force experienced by the surface as soon as the object touches the surface. So sensitive as to calculate the force/weight at the point/edge/corner of impact, to be precise. Please help ASAP. Too urgent.
    Thank you.

      How about piezo.
Since thats not the simple solution and you'll need signal conditioning, peak detection mechanism (hardware/software), and programming skills, etc to know the impact level and obviously it doesn't tell you the impact force in physical units so you have to do some sort of calibration to get physical parameter.

Guess you need to use the strain gauge as force sensor. For impact force, you need a signal conditioner with very quick response time. You need to provide the following details to take this further:
          1. What is the max expected force magnitude?
          2. What is the type of impact force? Is it going to be impulse type or step function type?
          3. What do you intend to do with the data you receive from the sensor?
Guess we can evaluate further based on these inputs.
